At Home Funerals Becoming Popular
A growing number of people nationwide are choosing to bypass a funeral home in exchange for a funeral at home. At home funerals save a significant amount of money (the average American funeral is $6,000 in addition to the costs of cremation or burial) and can be more intimate and informal. In six states, the law requires that a funeral director handle the body at some point. In Georgia, there is no such requirement.
